🛠️ Troubleshooting common errors
0xC004F074 — The KMS server could not be reached
The KMS host is offline or blocked. Try a different KMS server above, and make sure outbound TCP port 1688 is open in your firewall.
0xC004F050 — The product key is invalid
The GVLK doesn't match your installed edition. Pick the exact edition from the dropdown (e.g. Pro vs. Pro N vs. Enterprise).
0xC004C008 — Activation count exceeded
The public KMS host has hit its client limit. Wait and retry, or use another server from the list.
'slmgr' is not recognized
Use the script host explicitly: cscript //nologo C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs /ato. Also confirm Command Prompt is running as Administrator.
Only Volume-License editions activate via KMS
Retail/OEM Home & Pro installs generally need a MAK key or digital license instead of KMS.
